Requirements for filming in Tanzania:
To film in Tanzania, you are required to obtain a film permit. The cost of the official government Film Permit is $500. Application forms will be sent to you by Sokwe Film, to be filled out and returned to us. Sokwe Film will then submit them to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in Dar-Es-Salaam. The film Permit can take anything from 2 days to a week to obtain. We would like to stress that the information filled on the forms must be accurate and legible to ensure a speedy response.

Importation and Excise Duties: Tanzania do not accept a carnet for the insurance of the return of your equipment. You are required to lay down a bond of the amount of duties to be paid for the importation of your equipment. You can however, request a waiver of this bond.
Waiver Assistance: Prior to filming, we suggest you acquire a waiver for all of your equipment. This can be done through us. Our representative will need documentation of the value of your equipment in order to obtain a waiver. This will cost $50. This fee includes transportation to and from the Ministry, and express service of acquiring the waiver.
We require:
A full inventory of equipment to be imported for your application for a waiver of the Temporary Importation Bond
A copy of the Airway bill of lading (for air freight)
Details of date of arrival, time and flight number
List of equipment including film stock
Value of each item
Total value of equipment to be temporarily imported
Visas: We suggest you acquire a Business Visa before arrival into Tanzania to save time, although they are also available on arrival. The current cost for this is $200 per person.
